Spa
Mandara Spa
The name "Mandara" comes from an ancient Sanskrit legend about the gods' quest to find the elixir of immortality and eternal youth. Mandara Spa, originating in Bali, has embraced this legend and continues to provide the ultimate spa experience. The new Mandara Spa at the Sheraton Hotel Tahiti embraces healing traditions of the islands to create treatments using local ingredients like coconut milk, ginger, fragrant tiare flowers and aromatic vanilla beans. Treatments may be enjoyed at the spa – including the popular couple’s massage – or in the privacy of your own bungalow.
Activities
Available activities include: a full-day circle island tour, four-wheel drive safari, shopping for beautiful Tahitian pearls, visiting the Museum of Paul Gaugin or the Pearl Museum, scuba diving around old shipwrecks, surfing, hiking, horseback riding, full or half-day fishing trips, a Sunset cruise, helicopter tours of the island, an excursion to Tetiaroa Island – a private atoll owned by actor Marlon Brando and so much more ...

Our flight arrived late night and so we stayed a few hours here to get some sleep and ease into our trip. The Sheraton is nice, clean, and has beautiful gardens. I don't believe they have overwater bungalows -- it's more of a standard hotel. For the time spent there we felt it was perfect but I wouldn't want to spend much more of the honeymoon here without an actual beach, bungalows, etc. It would be fine for a day or two to explore the island from but we ended up coming back for a day on the ferry from Moorea and that was plenty of time to see the city, to shop, and to grab some food. I'm giving it a very good for a stop over spot but it doesn't really give you the French Polynesia experience.
